Family Support

Aboriginal Family Support Program

Program offers:

Collective Kitchen

This program runs Monday evenings from 3-7pm. Each family participant will take a turn helping prepare a low cost, nutritious meal. There are activities for the children at each program. You must phone in between 11-12 noon to register your family.

Parenting Class

The parenting classes run every Tuesday from 10-12 noon. This is a program designed for families with children 0-6 years of age. Topics that are covered address the needs of children in this age group. Transportation, child care and nutritious snacks are provided.

Appointment Assistance

This program runs on Wednesday’s. We will assist you with your child, while you go to your appointment (doctor, dentist, OW visit, etc.) You must phone in the day before to book your time.

Family Circle

This program runs Thursday from 10-12 noon. We focus on the needs of families with children 0-6years of age. We do an activity or craft that encourages both parent and tot interaction. Transportation and nutritious snacks are provided.

Parent and tot activities are fun and enjoyable. Families that play together, stay together.

Milk Program

This program is offered by the Indian Friendship Centre for low-income families who live off reserve. You must be registered.

Education Program

This program encourages active living. It is held on Saturday’s from 5-6pm at the John Rhodes Community Swimming Pool. Check the calendar for details.

Swimming

This activities are sponsored by the Diabetes Lay Educator Program

Clothing Depot

This program is held on the Last Thursday of the month. This program offers families a chance to come in and look at some clean gently used clothing, for free.
