Aboriginal Alcohol/Drug Prevention Worker

This program delivers various programs that promote a drug/alcohol free lifestyle.  Services include referrals to other agencies, assistance to requiring treatment programs, supportive counseling, aftercare support, coffee house and sharing circle, and anger management programs.

Mission Statement of Alcohol/Drug Prevention Program

To provide substance abuse services through education, prevention, and intervention to Native individuals and their families within the community; to provide healthier alternatives for a substance free lifestyle.

Goals

¨ Substance abuse education programs to the community

¨ To enhance inter-agency referrals and networking within the substance abuse community in addressing substance abuse

¨ To promote alternative lifestyle by providing substance free social activities

¨ To provide a continuum of care for substance abuse to individual and their families

¨ To enhance program accountability and credibility within the community

 

Monday Nights – Mino Biimaadswin (aftercare Program) followed by a sharing circle – traditional Medicines are used

Tuesday Nights – Drumming/Sewing Circle – Sponsored by the Healing/Wellness Program and the Prevention Program

Wednesday Nights – Mothers’ for Sobriety in the morning, also offers an evening recovery Program

Thursday Nights - Coffee House Singing, Music, Dancing, Socializing
